The process in which plants make food consuming carbon dioxide, water, sunlight(energy) in the presence of chlorophyll ,to give oxygen is called photosynthesis.
The process of photosynthesis takes place mainly in leaf.In this case plants absorb visible light for the energy requirement .This energy is received as light by chlorophyll pigments.

The head is called porphyrin and tail is called phytol.The Porphyrin is made up of four pyrrole rings.Magnesium atom is present in the centre of the chlorophyll molecule.The colour of chlorophyll a is blue -green and the colour of chlorophyll b is olive-green.
